The Company operates direct terminal-to-terminal services and regional overnight service between terminals where justified by freight volumes. It provides regional overnight service to the markets within its network. Direct shipments also reduce the likelihood of damage because of reduced handling and sorting of the freight. It operates regional hubs in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Newark, Newburgh, Orlando, and Sacramento. Hughes, the current company treasurer and senior vice president for finance, who will be promoted to CFO on July 1.

    George Putnam: Sure. Well, it grew fairly rapidly before the downturn in 2008 and didn't really have a great focus. With the new management team after 2008, they have sold off a lot of non-core properties and are focusing on more upscale properties and strong markets, and they've used the proceeds from asset sales to help the balance sheet. They have paid down a lot of high-priced debt, which also helps the bottom line.

    UBS analysts Darryl Genovesi and Raymond Wong explain what Delta Air Lines’ (DAL) disappointing update yesterday means for American Airlines (AAL), United Continental (UAL) and other carriers:

    [Delta's unit] revenue weakness attributed to weaker Latam yields as business travel declined during World Cup. We can see this trend in June agency bookings, followed by sharp recovery in July/Aug. American Airlines is most levered to Latam among our coverage.

    Mapping agency bookings across American Airlines’ geographic mix would imply ~5.7% Q2 PRASM growth for it, followed by 4-5% growth in July and August. While our prior Q2 EPS estimate had incorporated some upside beyond this forecast, we are scaling back our expectation with our Q2 EPS estimate moving from $1.96 to $1.85.

    Mapping agency bookings across United Continental’s geographic mix would imply ~5% Q2 PRASM growth for it, followed by ~4% growth in July and August, although our Q2 EPS estimate at $2.00 incorporates ~3% PRASM growth, high end of 1-3% guidance.

    Shares of Delta Air Lines have gained 1.1% to $38.67 at 12:03 p.m., while United Continental has risen 1.9% to $40 and American Airlines has declined 0.5% to $41.74.

    Delta Air Lines (DAL) is flying high this year, but that can’t stop Morgan Stanley’s John Godyn and team shouting their love for stock from the rooftops.

    Shares of Delta Air Lines have gained 37% this year, topping Southwest Airlines’ (LUV) 29% rise, United Continental’s (UAL) 6.6% advance and JetBlue’s (JBLU) 1.2% increase. American Airlines (AAL) has gained 52% so far in 2014.

    Godyn explains why he thinks Delta Air Lines remains the cream of the crop:

    Today, many we speak to believe that Delta Air Lines’ advantages are primarily a function of where the company is in its post-M&A lifecycle of sorts rather than representative of apersistent, unique set of competencies, assets, processes, and cultural factors. After our most recent round of meetings with mgmt this week and last ��we can�� help but increasingly believe the latter.

    In a nutshell, we feel slightly more confident in DAL�� non-fare revenue opportunities and ability to maintain sub-inflationary [cost per available seat miles] ex-Fuel growth in 2015 and as a result raise our current 2015 EPS estimate of $3.90 to $4.00 ��reaffirming our Street-high stance.

    Wolfe Research’s Hunter Keay and Jared Shojaian thinks JetBlue should add more seats:

    One area where we believe JBLU has an opportunity to improve earnings is cabin densification. Simply put we think JBLU doesn�� have enough inventory for sale. The concept of flying planes with 34��of legroom in coach is an idea that�� not only shunned by the most profitable airlines in the country, but it�� also one that has failed in the past.
